Thought Leadership

Vietnam & Africa

The Foundation runs an annual programme with the Institute for Africa and Middle East Studies of the Vietnamese Academy for Social Sciences.

This commenced in 2007 with a joint seminar on Comparative Lessons and Mutual Opportunities in Hanoi. The conference brought together representatives from Africa and Vietnam to compare and draw lessons from each other's experiences in development, as well as to explore opportunities for mutual co-operation between Africa and Vietnam. The conference papers were published in the volume, left, which can be ordered from the Foundation.

In February 2009, the Foundation and IAMES brought a group of African experts to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to identify further lessons from the Vietnamese experience.
