Nelson Mandela RUSI-Brenthurst Africa Programme
The Brenthurst Foundation is focused on improving African economic
performance and assisting in African capacity-building. Co-operation in a
number of programmes in the UK and further afield with the London-based Royal
United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies (RUSI), the world's
oldest think-tank, and the Nelson Mandela Foundation, aims to create:
- First, debate on the link between African development and security;
- Second, a constituency and network for African issues.
- Third, excellence in African and European scholarship.
The Nelson Mandela RUSI-Brenthurst programme will involve three
components over a three-year funding cycle starting in 2006:
- Annual
Nelson Mandela African Fellowship. This will allow a single
annual research fellow from Africa to spend two months at RUSI in Whitehall,
with their research focusing on an aspect of security crucial to African
development.
